    LG wants to buy your phone

    …for a princely sum of $10,000. But! Only if it’s an old Chocolate handset, and only if it’s got one of five magical serial numbers (see the LG site for details).

    Whether it’s a frantic global search for five unique mobiles (the US site says LG “desperately needs to locate the phones”) or a sneaky promotion for the new Chocolate BL20 dressed up like a sudden product recall, it’s gotten our attention. Any guesses?

    If LG's Customer Service people are not helpful, you might want to bring it up to their higher levels (worst case, go for their CEO) with a formal letter. Apparently that works but you need to make sure you talk in a reasonable manner.

    I bought an LG 550, which packed up after 3 weeks. Though it is well within warranty, LG refused to repair it, stating that the copy of the till receipt was not acceptable. I had already been told by them that a photocopy WOULD be acceptable ! I'd therefore like to know why the copy that I was told was acceptable was refused.
